What is baptism?
Baptism is a public profession of saving faith, where we tangibly demonstrate our union with Christ in his life, death, and resurrection.
We baptize by immersion because:
1. It best represents life, death, and resurrection
2. The word "baptize" in the Bible means to immerse
When the believer is immersed under water and brought back up, they are visually demonstrating that they have died to their old way of life and been raised to new life in Christ.

Who should be baptized?
The Bible teaches that baptism should be done by immersion, after conversion. This is why we only baptize those who make a credible profession of faith, and why we don't baptize infants.
Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 1:9-10; Acts 2:38, 8:38, 18:8; Romans 6:3-5

Why should I be baptized?
1. To follow Jesus' example (Mark 1:9)
2. To obey Jesus' teaching (Matthew 28:19-20)
3. To publicly declare your faith in Jesus (Acts 18:8)
It may be helpful to think of baptism as a wedding ring. The wedding ring doesn't make someone married; but it serves as a public symbol of that marriage.
Just as it would be strange for an unmarried person to wear a wedding ring, it would be strange for an unbeliever to be baptized. Likewise, just as it would be strange for a married person to refuse to wear their wedding ring, it would be strange for a Christian to refuse baptism.

What if I've been baptized before?
If you were a follower of Jesus when you were baptized previously, you've already been obedient to what the Scriptures teach.
But if you were not a follower of Jesus when you were baptized previously, we believe that your next step of obedience to Jesus is to get baptized - because baptism is a public proclamation of saving faith, and your previous baptism was removed from the context of saving faith.
